WHEW!!! I can't believe it's already December, and we have just a few short weeks until Christmas--my life and schedule have already shifted into overdrive, as all the parties and shopping and baking begin to fill the calendar. Many of us will be traveling to share the holidays with family, or, perhaps, hosting friends or family here. However you are celebrating, please remember to take a few moments for yourself each day to recharge. Most of us are the "batteries" for our families, and with H1N1 lurking about, it's so important to take care of our bodies and our psyches, too. I urge you, too, to find a way this season to share you gifts with others...sponsor a child for Angel Tree, donate a toy or your time with Toys for Tots or at the San Antonio Food Bank --there are so many worthy and worthwhile ways to share your holiday spirit with those less fortunate.
The membership of the ROSC has proven itself time and again to be incredibly generous, and I know that will continue Because…we need your help! There are many events coming up which are in need of volunteers: on Tuesday, 1 December, the holiday tree lighting will be in front of the Taj Mahal at 1730, and the organizers need help with the refreshments. On Friday, 11 December, is the Holiday Tour of Homes, and we will need volunteers to help in individual homes. Then, on Tuesday, 15 December, we will, again, need your baking expertise for the Airmen Cookie Drive. More details about these events will be forthcoming from our wonderful e-mail "guru," Suzie Crosby, but there are certainly plenty of opportunities to share those tasty family recipes!
Finally, I want to wish each and every member a wonderful holiday season and hope to see you at our wonderful Holiday Shopping Extravaganza luncheon on the 17th, complete with Christmas caroling by our wonderful Randolph Elementary School Choir.
With joy for the season and hope for a bright new year…
Chrissy Jenkins
