As the newly elected president for Randolph OSC for the 2010-2011 board year, I welcome all of you who are members of the Randolph OSC and those who may wish to become members in the next few months. Common to all bases is the on-going change that occurs every summer for OSC‘s across the US and around the world as new faces are brought in to head up not only elected positions but appointed governing board chairs and co-chairs. I thank each of you who have so graciously stepped up to fill many of those chairs. Such a diverse background makes me view each of you, board member or not, on the whole of whom we are and why we so patiently step up to serve when asked or called. Even though we as the spouses may not have worn the uniform, a thought from my heart lingers there and says: ―The bands of friendship amongst our fellow brother and sister military spouses instills true, committed interwoven bonds of loyalty and companionship; no matter the service branch or where we hail from around this grand and wonderful country of ours. As in the service of our own military husbands or wives and those needed bonds of military friends, we know in our hearts that 'NoGreater love hath a man than this; that he may lay down his life for his friends.‘"
That is my continued thought and motto in the way we live our lives as military spouses, "We Also Serve". No, we may not be deployed to the far reaches of the world as our loved ones often do, yet we serve each other in the here and now when loved ones are away and "our family" needs looking after. No matter the need or circumstances, know that we can be there for you if you so desire. So I encourage each of you to come to our annual meet and greet at the upcoming Special Activities function slated for September 2nd at the Parr O‘Club to see what we are all about. I look forward to meeting you there.
Again, Welcome to Randolph Air Force Base.
David Allen
